REMOVAL - REFITTING CAMSHAFT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] camshaft oil seal fitting drift (-).0132-T .

[2] Immobilisation key (-).0132-AA .

2 - REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery .

drain the cooling system .

Remove :

• the ancillary drive belt
• the timing belt
• the cylinder head

Immobilise the camshaft gear using tool [2] to slacken the bolt (1) .

Remove :

• the camshaft gear (2)
• the thermostat (3)
• the camshaft retaining fork

Tap with the mallet to release the oil seal .

Remove the camshaft .

IMPERATIVE : take care not to damage the sequential injection ring at the end of the camshaft (according to specification) .

3 - REFITTING

Oil the camshaft bearings .

Position the camshaft in the cylinder head .

Fit the retaining fork .

Tighten the bolt to 1.64 da.Nm .

Fit a new oil seal using tool [1] and the bolt (1) .

Clean the seal faces :

• water outlet housing
• cylinder head

Coat the coolant outlet housing surface with AUTOJOINT OR jointing compound .

Fit :

• the thermostat ; tighten the bolts to 0.8 daN.m
• the camshaft gear ; tighten the bolt (1) to 8 da.Nm
• the cylinder head
• the timing belt
• the ancillary drive belt

adjust the valve clearances .

fill and bleed the cooling system .
