REMOVAL - REFITTING CAMSHAFT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS


DW8 ENGINE

[1] Retaining wrench : (-).0132-AA .

[2] Lip seal fitting cone : (-).0188-C2 .

[3] Camshaft oil seal fitting drift : (-).0188-C1 .

2 - REMOVAL

DW8 ENGINE

Disconnect the battery .


Remove :

Disconnect, unclip and separate the harnesses, hoses and cables connected to the cylinder head .


Unclamp the pipe (4) .

Remove :


Retrieve the cotter (7) .

Progressively unscrew and remove the bearing caps (8) (cast-in markings) .

Remove the camshaft (9) .

ALL MODELS

3 - REFITTING

DW8 ENGINE

Remove the rod from the flywheel .

Turn the crankshaft a quarter turn in the opposite direction to running (Pistons at mid-stroke) .


If the camshaft or tappets are replacements, fit basic shims (10) 2,425 mm thick .

Oil the bearings and the cams .


Fit :

Progressively tighten the bearing caps to 2 da.Nm .

Check the valve clearances .


Fit a new lip seal on the tool [3] using the tool [2] .

Fit the new lip seal : Using the tool [3] .

Fit :

Tighten the bolt to 4.3 da.Nm .

refit the timing belt .


IMPERATIVE : oil the O-rings (11) before refitting .

Fit :

Tighten the bolts to 2 daN.m .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

Initialise the various ECUs .
