REMOVAL - REFITTING DRIVE SHAFTS
1 - TOOLING
Set of 2 spring retaining rods (-).0918-Z .
2 - REMOVAL
Use a wheel free lift (To make the operation easier) .
POSITION THE SPRING RETAINING RODS [1] .
Remove the wheels .
USE TOOL [26] TO PREVENT THE HUB FROM TURNING .
Remove the nut (1) .
Raise the vehicle .
Right hand drive shaft :
Turn the fasteners a quarter turn .
Remove the bolt (4) .
DETACH THE SWIVEL BALL JOINT (Using the tool [28]) .
Place a nut or a pin at (A) to immobilise the lower wishbone in a low position .
Right hand drive shaft :
Left hand drive shaft :
Detach the drive shaft from the hub .
Remove the drive shaft .
Right hand drive shaft :
Attach a piece of adhesive tape to protect the differential outlet seal faces (B) .
3 - REFITTING
Check :
Rectify (If necessary) .
Clean and coat with TOTAL 3945 multi-purpose grease the splines of the hub and of the driveshaft at the wheel end .
Right hand drive shaft :
Replace :
Remove the adhesive tape .
Refit the driveshaft in the differential .
Right hand drive shaft :
Fit :
Remove the tool [28] .
Pre-tighten one bearing nut (5) to 0.5 daN.m .
Tighten the other bearing nut (5) to 1 daN.m .
Complete the tightening of the first nut to 1 daN.m .
Use MOLYKOTE D321R type surface grease to coat the surface and the threads of the nut (1) .
Tighten the nut (1) to 24.5 da.Nm .
Crimp the nut (1) using tool [35] .
Fit the wheels .
Tightening torque : 8.5 da.Nm .
