Do the speaker grilles on the door speakers just pop off, or is more complex to remove them :?:

The passenger door speaker has started to buzz if there's any half decent bass on a track. Need to see if it's blown (How?!! The Clarion head unit has virtually no output!!) or whether somethings a bit loose...
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

No they don't pop off despite the fact that they look that they should!

You have to take the door card off to get to the speaker. It's not too daunting to do as long as you're a bit brave.

If your car is under warranty you may be able to get it sorted for free though... although tbh I'd replace the standard speakers with something much better.

Cheers Matt, cc is still less than a year old so no problem about the warranty, but not worth the trouble is it...
Can you imagine. 3 visits before the :monkey: :monkey: agree it's loose/blown, another visit to get it fixed, 3 visits to argue about a charge, and another 4 visits to sort out the rattles they create with the door card...

So no problems with sorting it myself, if it bugs me too much before the next service that is.

Any reccomendations for a direct swap speaker that involves no modding, cutting etc and doesn't cost the earth!
I'm not a neon lights and install in the boot kinda guy!

If you just want something better without going the whole hog then I believe you can get some Kenwood components to fit in quite easily. You're looking at over £100 though which may not be worth it.

Alternatively you can probably find some drop-in replacements for the main speakers only (without the tweeters at the top of the door) for less than 40 quid. Kenwood are always a good bet, and these should fit nicely: http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/speakers01/kfc1758s.asp
