i know how!
if you look at the rear shelf that pops up when you put the top down
i get a lot of stuff that goes in through the small openings around it
leaves fluff etc
you probably smoke (pretty safe assumption)
and the wind blows it along the back
into the boot
or
if you have the top up
at the tiny rear shelf that is stuck to the roof
they are small vents to extract old air out of the car
if you ever open a window
the wind could blow the ashes into the boot through them
case closed
:D

I thought for ages that I was getting ash in the boot. It turned out to be bits of the rubber stoppers etc that had gone brittle and flaked off whilst operating the roof or boot or both. Strange I know but thats what mine was.

I was sad and put plastic in the boot to catch it and checked every time I used the car untill I worked it out.

probably ash from someone else who throw theirs out the window and landed on the back glass roll down to the gap just below the back glass stuck there, when you put the roof down the glass get fold down first and waaalaaa ... dislodge and fall down to the boot... same with leaves and all rubish just keep falling down there.
