On start up, when you press the accelerator pedal, the revs drop and it's difficult to pull off. after a couple of minutes, the car drives fine... Also, if you can get the revs over 2k on start up it doesn't happen...
A garage thinks it could be sticking tappets but would cost a lot to check it out, is there anything else I could try ?
Been recommended to try 0w 30 oil which could help ?
Thanks
2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
This sounds like the automatic enrichment and elevated idle revs is not working. This should be initiated by the Coolant Temperature Sensor detecting a cold engine. I would try changing the CTS.
Another possibility is the Inlet Air Temperature sensor.

Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Thanks, I've just ordered a sensor to give it a go..
The car has done something different today as well, stuck in traffic, and the fan came on, the revs then automatically raised to 1k to 1.1k and the accelerator did nothing, turned the engine off/on and it drove fine.
Flagged 2 codes as 1160 and 1161.....

Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
mmm 1161 seems to have a connection to Inlet Air Pressure, so that is another possible sensor, but you'd think it would also be a problem with a warm engine, so maybe a red herring.
Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Sorry, thought I'd updated the thread, changed the CTS and the car had been running fine, then a couple of weeks ago it's started playing up again, the rev's drop and you have to really push the accelerator to get it going!
EML comes in with anti pollution and codes below.
It only happens when stationary then try and pull off, codes flagged were p1160/p1161/p0341, also the engine seems very hot....Any idea's what else it could be ?
Air temp sensor was changed too when the CTS was done.

Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
I'm not certain, but perhaps the Inlet Air Pressure sensor is different to the Inlet Air Temperature sensor in the 2 litre engine?
Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Ok thanks for the reply, it's the sensor in the throttle body I got changed, will have a look at Haynes incase there's another sensor....
Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Hi
I'm still no further on this but a new code flashed yesterday, p0170 after the revs drop and the car cut out.
I'm wandering, could the loss of revs be due to a faulty accelerator position sensor ?
I've rev'd the engine and the butterfly isnt opening sometimes when you press the pedal. Its intermittent the problem so I'm thinking maybe its from the pedal sensor ?

That, or the butterfly actuator, or the circuit between them.
Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Ok cheers, I've changed the throttle body for a brand new one and still have the same problem so that's one ruled out.
Haynes doesn't really tell you much but looks like the switch is at the top of the pedal ? I can see a wire
that disappears off into the dashboard, would you know if its just the pedal part to replace ?

Re: 2.0 16v - Cold Start - Loss of revs?
Ok, just to update the thread, the loss of revs has started to happen most the time, usually when pulling upto a junction and the revs drop and cut out.
I've taken the car into a Peugeot specialist, the diagnostic indicated its possibly a fault with the camshaft wiring which they will be having a look at....
