So am driving the car and accelerate away from a roundabout and suddenly exhaust gets loud and there is banging noise. Exhaust had separated at the junction between the cat and the rest of the exhaust. Use webbing straps to support exhaust and manage to get home.
On further investigation it looks like exhaust has been welded at this point before to save the cost of a new cat. I used fence wire to hold it back together whilst I thought what to do. In the end have bought a welder, ground back all the old weld and welded it back up. Not pretty but it will suffice for the time being. Had just passed MOT so was a bit of a shock. Anybody know how hard it is to change the cat. It looks a pig to get to on my 1.6.
All your other probs if any.
