Are you doing this?

Postby MartinMax » Fri Jun 28, 2019 10:15 am

When closing the roof, after locking the latches...

Are you imagining a 'race to close' between the left and right window?

I know I do, and the left window always wins :-)

I find if I try to close both at once then it all goes pair shaped :)

The left always wins because it starts first. Probably deliberate, as the winding motors take more current when getting up to speed, so a staggered start is good practice.

Probably there is some reasoning behind it...

But the hope that 'Righty' will eventually win is still there :-)

Out of curiosity, I decided to try the "Window Race" today. Result..... a dead heat!

Was that going up or down? I get a win for left going up, but a dead heat going down.

I didn't realise there was a "going-down" race too! Going-up includes the rear quarter lights sprint prior to the long slog of the main windows on the home straight. (My race was carried out with the engine running.)
Do I detect a new Olympic sport in the offering? ;)

If we are using the running analogy!! If I do both of mine at the same time sometimes one of my rear windows falls at the final hurdle and doesn't get over the finish line. The front one then charges off before the baton is passed therefore being disqualified.
:)
If the windows are done Separately this never happens.!

Give that window some motivation with a bit of silicone lubricant...

Yep. It has been lubricated and all close perfectly if done one at a time. If both done at the same time the voltage drop seems to lead to the occasional early stopping of one of the rears.

Does it happen with the engine running?

yes. always tend to do roof and windows with engine running. It really is a bit of a first world problem though :)
