Re: Rear axle removal
I'm thinking I might replace my rear axle at some point too. Can you post here a brief description of how it goes please?

If you go to http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/pages/index.jsp and register as an independent, you can look up all the parts of your car by entering your VIN in a Peugeot illustrated database.Dibdab5159 wrote:Hi all just a quick question I am doing a axle replacement on the other half 206cc does any one know what the two long struts that bolt to the box in the middle are called you have to remove them to get axle out think Iam going to need new ones as they have rusted quite bad just don’t know the the proper name is any help would be great thank in advance

The body strengthening bars? They are p$gs to remove ... the mounting bolts rust solid and as they are torx heads, round off as soon as you put pressure on them

Re: Rear axle removal
Thanks guys I’ve managed to get 5 of the 8 torx undone but dont think other 3 will play ball so easy just gonna cover them in plus gas for a few days let it soak as Iam not tackling it till next week thanks for the info guys
Re: Rear axle removal
I got mine out with a heat gun then a good crack with a heavy lump hammer to break the thread lock/rust free. More chance of snapping a torx bit than rounding them off that way.

Re: Rear axle removal
Great advise slo they come out so easy the way you said no snaped torx or rounded off heads nice one
Re: Rear axle removal
Nice one I killed a T55 torx handle (the large ones that look like huge alan keys with a plastic grippy bit) and a halfords bit before I heat gunned em.
That plus gas is the best way though and that crack with a lumpy sure dont half free em off
