Peugeot 206cc 2005 1.6 16v (TU5JP4)
Got a loud squealing noise coming from engine. Sound is similar to a misaligned Aux Drive Belt. Don't think it's coming from the belt though, belt looks healthy (no service history so don't know when last done) and spraying it didn't stop the noise. Mainly though, the sound seems like it's coming from engine, towards the back. Don't know what it could be though - water pump tensioner?
Any guesses on likely cause? Haven't had a chance to start taking things apart yet! I'm pretty novice - maybe it's the Aux Drive Belt but sounds like it's coming from engine centre?
Cheers!
EDIT
Should add:
No warning lights
The noise happens all the time, even idling
Engine squealing
Re: Engine squealing
Could be cambelt or tensioners. You should change belt anyway if you have no history
Cheers Col.
