Hi,
Have been checking out this forum for some time having got our CC in Oct 01.

Have a weird and annoying problem with the front wheel trims on our 1.6 ..... they won't stay in the right place, rotating on the wheels until either they nearly snap the valves or the valves push the trims off!

The local dealer replaced them both which made no difference. Their 2nd attempt was 2 pieces of double sided tape which has shrivelled up! The O/S/F needs removing and refixing every 10 miles.

Anyone else got the same problem or got a fix? I don't want to use cable ties as these look naff and the car is going back to the local dealer on Wednesday 29/5/02 for another attempt.

Someone must know something as every 307 I have seen fitted with these trims has the same problems plus three 1.6 CC's seen recently on our 2nd home, the Greek island of Kalymnos!

Yeah i had the same problem, i suppose the only thing you can really do is put on cable ties or get yourself a set of alloys

Thanks Col.

However, how many 307 or 1.6 CC owners haven't noticed the problem and are at risk of the valves or their seal with the wheel being broken?

I have never had this or seen it on other cars. It is a dangerous problem that Peugeot need to be aware of and address.

Unfortunately, I don't think they will replace them with a set of alloys, but anythings got to be better than double sided sticky tape!

I'll see what happens Wednesday.

Car has been in today and has come back with some nice black cable ties to retain the front wheel trims! Saves me having to remove and refix every 10 miles.

Peugeot have acknowledged there is a problem and offered to supply FOC an alternative set of 15" trims of my choice. However, they will not guarantee they won't move as well, ie it may be the wheels are too big.

I feel a letter coming on!

I'll keep you posted.

I have also now experienced this problem but not overly worried as the valve is quite flexible and dealership have put cable ties on. They did put pale grey ones on so not so obtrusive! I would also like to add that my dealership get eleven out of 10 for customer care and friendliness!

After I have saved up for a headlight conversion I will be saving for alloys but only when current tyres need replacing.

I had the same trouble as well, after the first 3 miles the front wheel thingy came off 3 times, now I have taped it and it stays on. I will tape the other front wheel as well now I've read this. Someone told me that the rubber on the Continentals is a little bit too big and pushing them off in corners. Anyway, I can live with it, the car is just amazing fun to drive!

David

Our car is still at Warwick Wright Brent Cross. They have had it since last Wednesday (31st) and we haven't heard a word since!

Have you put the tape around the full circumference of the wheel to tighten the grip of the wheel trim as it pushes on?

Also, where are the corners on the wheels? Are yours square?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Hi,

I have just put one thing I got from work on the wheel, I think it may be a cable tie, I don't know what it is, so I will describe it.

it's a 20 cm long cord of plastic and when I put the end of it into it's tail, I get a round circle which I have put through the hole of the wheel. I only used 1 on 1 wheel and now I don't have the problem anymore, all 4 wheels have stayed on. I have the car for 9 days now and drove already 650 miles with it . I haven't taken a good look at my wheels but I can't recall that the corners are square.

Kind regards,
David

Got car back after 4 weeks at Warwick Wright Brent Cross.

Peugeot told them to replace them again and, after a few miles and a few stops braking hard one has moved more than an inch and other beginning to creep!

They have still not sorted other problems on car, so going to attempt rejection again.

But Erm,

We had to take what was on offer last October - A new car sat at a dealers without the 16 to 20 week wait? Couldn't miss that!

If we had waited, the oppurtunity to drive topless in minus 4ºC on Boxing Day morning would have been missed!
