My 17" wheels are fitted with 205/40's so and they don't rub at all. These sizes are fitted to the 206 GTi 180 so they are the ones to go for!

I got 17's on mine and had it lowered with Eibach springs ........ and the ride is fine.

Ok, sounds good, ive just ordered some NANKANG NS2. Looks like there not too bad for budget tyres. Got good ratings in some of the tests ive read.

Sorry to be a pain but can you recommend any web sites for ordering 206 bits? Im looking for an SP grill, arches, and a nice front splitter to make the front look lower

Why buy expensive alloys and then budget tyres? The alloys don't do anything but look good, whereas the tyres are the only thing that keep you stuck on the road!

Personally, I would have got some Toyo Proxes T1-R. I've been using Toyos for some time and they're a "budget premium" tyre -- similar quality to Eagle F1s, SO3s, etc. but cheaper. Used the T1-S many times and recently bought a set of T1-R for the wife's CLK, which were excellent [although we've now sold the car and bought a BMW 320 Cd!]

I agree. Shouldn't skimp too much on tyres. My alloys came with Goodyear Eagle F1's and they are good quality and have last well for over 20k miles though I don't drive my car hard.

Looking to get Toyo's in the near future.

carl, if the picture on your post is your car then i would also buy expensive tyres, unfortunately my car doesnt go over 100mph without me jumping up and down in my seat  and i dont really chuck my car round corners.

i couldnt afford expensive tyres, it was either them or no alloys altogether.

No, the TVR is still on the Bridgestone SO-3s it came on.

I put 3 (or 4, I forget) sets of Toyo Proxes T1-S on my Subaru Impreza.
1 set of Toyo 330s on our Citroen Saxo (West Coast 1.4, cool...)
1 pair of Toyo Proxes T1-S on the Pug CC
1 set of Toyo Proxes T1-R on the Merc CLK

I still believe in spending money on tyres, regardless of the car. It's the only contact with the road. I'd rather have decent tyres than decent alloys. Bizarrely, the TVR (360bhp) is running on 225/45 16s at the front and 245/45 16s at the rear. Our new BMW 320 Cd (150bhp) is running on 225/40 18s at the front and 255/35 18s at the rear. I think it's a bit overtyred...

I agree with everyone so far, don't go budget tyres

I recommend the Hankook k104 sports, very good tyres, had them on my cc and now on my saab. best thing was price, were about £60ish per tyre
