This is my first post so please be gentle.

I've just ordered a 206cc Quiksilver for my wife and have enjoyed reading this very helpfiul forum.

Believe it or not, we didn't realise that the 206cc doesn't have a spare wheel.

So to the point, has anyone tried using any of the puncture prevention goo you can stick in the tyre so that if you do get a puncture it reseals itself ? I've had a quick google and came across something called ultraseal but I've no idea if this stuff is any good.

With the car you have ordered you do get a can of the goo.

I thought the goo you get with the car was something you put in the tyre after a puncture so you can get home and then have the tyre fixed/replaced.

The goo I have read about should be in the tyre before a puncture and is supposed to seal the tyre leaving you oblivious to the fact you had a puncture and requiring no repair.

The stuff that comes standard with the car goes in after you have had a puncture. One thing to note is that it is designed to get you home and after that you have to replace the tyre. It cannot be fixed once you have used the tyre weld.

It's an emergency measure only and I would only use it if I couldn't get to a tyre repair place (even in a taxi) with the flat tyre.

Hope this helps!

A girl at my work drove about 50 miles on a punctured tyre with tyre weld in it. I belive you can do a lot more than that, but you have to watch your speed and obviously don't push those corners.

The stuff is designed to get you out of trouble not to fix the tyre.

If indoubt RTFM. There is a version online on this site.

Thanks for the info everyone.

I think we have established that the stuff you get with the car is used after a puncture and only as a temporary fix requiring immediate attention.

Now, the stuff I was talking about is put in the tyre before a puncture and lives in there permanantly. It claims to instantly repair any puncture you might get without you even being aware you had one and does not need any further action to be taken.

Has anyone used one of these puncture prevention products ?
