How to create your own Avatar ( A complete beginners guide)

Post by rob »

How to create your own Avatar ( A complete beginners guide) I am that beginner!

1. Put your picture on a website 80PX x 80PX size is reasonable. a small list of free hosters further down the page
2. Go to the website, Right click on the pic, click properties, and copy the url address. Thats the bit that starts http//
3. go into your profile, right down to the bottom. Paste into white box to right of the text that says Link to off-site Avatar:
4. Click on submit
5. Voila its done

List of Free Hosters;

http://www.imagestation.com/

http://www.freepichosting.com/

http://www.facelink.com/ this one takes a while as they verify your pic isnt porn first

Hope this Helps.

Anyone know how to reduce the size of an animated gif (avatar) without losing the animation?
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

I think I must be being incredible thick :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: I've tried to follow the instructions that Rob has put on here about putting an avatar on and I've uploaded my piccy onto one of the hosting sites but when I right click, the properties option doesn't come up :cry:

So thinking of myself as a tiny bit technical I went to my profile and attempted to upload a tiny pic (was only 105kb) of my car as my avatar but it doesn't seem to like me.

Help anyone ??? (don't make it technical please)
