Hi,

I've had my CC for about 4 months, and I'm getting Pi$$3d off with the problems I'm having:

1. dodgy roof latch - been in to replace, but problem still there!
2. squeeky breaks - again, been in, but problem got worse!
3. dodgy fan belt - not sorted (I hope)
4. leaking quarter lights - replaced, but still leaking, though not as bad.
5. Passenger door doesn't shut unless slammed.

Firstly, do I have cause to reject the car, and secondly, how do I go about rejecting it? Am I entitled to a new one (I paid cash, the car isn't on finance so it's not like I've only paid the deposit!)

Assuming the supplying dealer has been attending to the problems and has been permitted a reasonable oppurtunity or oppurtunites to remedy your faults to you satisfaction and they have failed, then you do have a good case.

Send them a letter listing the defects, the dates of visits and works carried out and state the sale of goods act, (think BBC's Watchdog website has a standard letter?)

As for a replacement? There may be a cash adjustment necessary.

Derek paid £300 after a few months and a few thousand miles.

GAZ acted quickly and paid nothing.

Pug206CC sold his car back to the dealer for £1500 less than purchase price after 12 months - We did same with ours and got the same deal, while TimB did same and paid 7p/mile after 10 months.

Act quick, make noise, don't be fobbed off, threaten them with Solicitors.

Good Luck

having paid cash won't make a massive difference although it also means you cant get the finance company to help you (not that i'm saying they would).

when i rejected mine and was negotiating the extra payment (£300) which started much higher, the general manager asked if it was on finance. when i said it wasn't things got a bit easier.

i don't know if he was thinking moving the car to a new agreement might cost me extra charges but it was as if one of his arguements was lost before he had a chance to use it.

incidentally, at one point i was offered a full refund (by cheque) if i walked away there and then (without the courtesy car i was using).
as eye see said in the discussion section, don't think peugeot will help you. the general manager told me at one point that i was free to fight my rejection with peugeot uk - i knew there was no point due to my previous / recent experience of their customer (couldn't) care.

Forgot to add that after the 11½ months we were offered a replacement car ex Peugeot UK's stock for £1000. We chose to get out while we could as a 4 month old CC courtesy car we had was almost as bad as ours, so we didn't have much faith in a replacement being any better!

With us, the finance company was not much help until the end when they eventually refunded all our payments including the interest charges!

Again, good luck.

I get a new car in feb 2003. Thats 13. months after I got my first car... I dont have to pay anything, and if i had choosen to take my money back i would get 12% intrests..
If i hadnt got a special deal when i bought it I would take the money back wiht intrests and gone to another dealer and bought a new one there..
If I had choosen the money back alternative i would be charged a small amount pr. driven kilometer. But if you dont drive extreemly much, you will get out whith more money then you paied for the car...

Well this is how it works in Norway... and how it should worked in the rest of the world....

Good luck with your car and your "battle!!

So it's quite a hassle then :(

I suppose I wouldn't get anything back for the extras I've had done (sp grille, gti arches, colour coding, leather seats etc)? That being the case I'd loose an extra £2k on top of everything else.

I'm going to peugeot dealer tomorrow to discuss. Only problem is the salesman is a family friend and don't want anything to come back on him!

Don't suppose this site has any official 'clout' with peugeot does it - it should, seems the people on here know more than the people selling the bloody cars!

I've got a 1.6 at the mo. Would be nice if pugeot swapped it with the limited edition model  I can dream.....

jonathan,

as i think it was erm said in an earlier post it's a pity a friend is involved. but in reality that shouldn't matter as you are only looking for what you are entitled to. in reality if the friend pulled their weight then i would have thought it would help.

when mines was replaced, it was with exact same spec, e.g leather, same colour and also the wheel arch extensions and mesh grille were also fitted as per the original car.

as eye see said, i paid £300 which i was happy with. i got an 02 reg to replace the 51 reg (worth a lot more than £300) and also got effectively 5500 free miles, 3.5 months free road tax, warranty and AA cover.

Hi all, Im new to this forum and I found it as I was searching the net to see if there are any recurring faults with the 206CC

My Girlfriend bought a 1.6 with full leather, alloys, sports kit etc in March 02. She has since had loads of problems, all of which have been discribed above.. the car has been back to the dealers on at least 5 occasions maybe more!!

Leaking roof/windows
both doors not shutting properly (she has to make sure the window is pushed in at the top, even so it still leaks and the leather seats are starting to look shabby)
Creaking noise when she slows or pulls away.. been back twice for this and it comes back, sounds like something has been done up too tight if you get my meaning.
Loss of power when pulling away/changing gear.
Squeeky brakes
Had a scratch on it when she bought it
when it went in for service appeared as if nothing has been done and didn't get cleaned, valeted?? Dont know if they are supposed to do this.

Im gonna go down the letter route etc as discribed above and I will probs be back to ask your advice at some point and will keep you updated as to my progress..

seems we are not alone here with these probs!! What have been your guys experiences with replacements? do these problems always occur or have they fixed most of what appear to be common faults?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi

After long deliberation I have decided to reject my CC also.

The outstanding problems now consist

Passenger seat runner that still gets stuck after 5 visits to the dealer, Lsat occassion they said they cant do much more with it and other CC's are the same. The runner has been replaced twice. The drivers side works perfectly.

Damage to the rear quarter pannel (near the door) done by the service department when moving the car (they bumped my car into another customers).First attempt they tried to repair it using dent masters, told me it was sorted when it clearly was not. 2nd attempt it has been to a body shop, the door does not align with rear quarter as rear quarter is still out of shape.

I informed them last saturday that I was unhappy with the work and they promised me the service manager would ring me and he has not. I think there trying to wash the hands of it as it will cost them to send it to the body shop again.

I guess I need to document everything to the dealer principle and go from there?

Ok well my rejection letter was dropped off at the Pug dealer on Sunday. They have got in touch and want to arrange a meeting with myself, the MD of the dealer and some1 from PUG Uk.

Not sure what to expect to be honest.

Any advice?

Well, The guys at the dealers were really helpful, unfortunately the guys at HQ weren't so - they wanted to have my car for (up to) 2 months to carry out full checks on it until they were convinced that it was faulty.

I told them to bugger off, as I'd had enough (and I wasn't going to be given another CC as a replacement car).

Managed to get £11800 for it in the end, which was a bit of a bummer really!

I part ex'd it for a 52 plate Audi S3. Best thing I ever did! (Until the sun comes out, of course!)

Hi

Well after numerous meetings, and a meeting with a rep from Pug UK I gave the garage one final attempt to correct the damage to the rear qtr panel.

The car was returned with a new welded on qtr panel that was misaligned by 4mm so that non of the bits around fitted.

So the garge have agreed to replace the vehicle with a new one, it will be a 53 plate, delivery sept.

I have had to contribute £1100 for approx 14-15k miles and 16 months use.
