Since Sam wants to take this to Peugeot, please keep this on-topic. Any off-topic posts will be deleted.

If you've had a manifold problem, please answer here following this format:

1. What's the problem (usually noise @ 2800rpm)?
2. How many EXTRA manifolds have you had?
3. How long has each manifold lasted (including initial one)?
4. What engine do you have (AFAIK it's a 2.0l problem)?

1. Noise around 2800rpm
2. 1 manifold replacement
3. Replaced around 9k miles (now on 14k)
4. 2.0

You can also get loud engine cover vibrations around 3,000 rpm. This is common on the GTi engine, ie affects the non cc 2.0 cars as well. I have had this "fixed" on 3 occassions by Peugeot putting padding under the engine cover.

1. Noise at 2800rpm (Sounds like a hole in the exhaust, plus Rattling)
2. 1
3. Initially after 2/3 months from new!
4. 2.0 SE

Have taken car back twice for same problem. First time only parts of the manifold was replaced. Fixed problem briefly but then noise came back.
Had new manifold replaced last week. Noise still there!
Am in the process of discussing this matter with one of the customer care managers at Peugeot Head Office!

ther is a prob with the 2.0 liter engine exhaust manifold. there are no fixs only replacment.
the manifolds are double skined and the internal one becomes loose or not correctly spot welded causing them to resinate as you all described as above.
it is a lucky dip if you get a goodun.
i have fitted 6 on one car alone. :(

Hi, can I throw something in the mix, I'm not saying that none of you have got manifold problems because loss of power does sound different, but as nx said, alot of you could just have problems with your engine cover.

I have owned my 2.0 litre since new just over a year, and at about 5000 miles I was suffering the engine noise at around 2,800 revs, like you I thought it was an exhaust noise, when it went in for its first service I asked them to look at it, and they said it was probably the engine cover and they had tightened it, but it only cured the problem for one journey.

So I looked at it myself and the fasteners are only plastic quick release ones, which werent particularly tight, and being an aircraft engineer I had access to neoprene and rubber sheet and stuff. So I cut out some Neoprene sheet a few mm thick into squares and punched holes in them the size of the fasteners, I then took the cover off and stuck them on the head where the fastners located, so when I refitted the cover the spinginess of the neoprene acted like a damper between the cover and the head, and acted like a spring washer for the plastic fastners keeping them tight.

My car has now down 13,000 miles and there has been no hint of noise since, as I said its not necessarily the same problem as all of you, but I bet it will cure a lot.
