I set about changing out the broken check strap on the driver's door earlier today. I removed the door card, fully anticipating the job to be no more than 10 minutes. But lo and behold, the window motor was completely blocking access to the unit above it, and I had to use an Allen key to remove the three small motor mounting screws (mounted from the inside facing outwards towards me) in order to remove the motor which then gave me access to remove the old unit and fit the new one.
It was a right fiddle but I got it done. Is this the recognised method, or have I missed something?

I took the door card off.
Easy to remove broken one.
Struggled for an hour to fit a new one and was about to give up.
My neighbor walked by and offered to try. 10 seconds later it was fitted and I just needed to fit the nuts.
His wee hand went up closest to the door edge. No need to remove anything to fit.
He does not know, but he will be replacing the passenger door strap.
