Front brake disks

Post by Spitfire6 »

Hi,
my front disks will need replacing in the next 12 months.
Are front drilled disks available for the 2L 16V?
Cheers,
Iain.

Hi,
Thank you for the name.
Reasonably priced too.

I find the plain front disks on the car scary, very scary when cruising on the motorway for long periods in heavy rain & then braking.

Drilled should stop the adrenalin rush.
Thanks,
Iain.

PS. Have just ordered Mintex road pads and drilled disks. As adding grooves were free, seemed a shame not to Bling them.

It won't be the discs .. it's the pads. Good pads on standard discs are ok.

If they've been overheated they could be glazed, they could be too hard for road use or just rubbish pad material .. what was fitted.

PS we had Mintex on our 2.0 and I could almost stand it on it's nose ... after tgey were properly bedded in.

Hi & cheers,
I have never felt dead brakes on a car in heavy rain before. I never had a need to understand what water will do on a cold disk during heavy braking. Holes. I'm lead to believe will eliminate this issue & cause a few minor others?
Thanks,
Iain.

I fitted drilled discs to my old Alfa 156 with Ferodo Performance pads. If I could fit the same combo on any car I own I would. Compared to oem they were incredible!

Changing to DS2500's on Spit. 1155's that were fitted means fresh DS2500's with new 288mm grooved disks.
Pads for the 206cc are R90 type so not expecting much change due to Mintex brand.
Cheers,
Iain.

A good degrease and ultra-high temperature paint to any not contact surfaces & Louis is your uncle.
