Is there noise when the shift in in neutral? If not, I suspect the bearings of the first and second gear shaft.

I'd be inclined to try changing the gearbox oil to see if that helps. It says "for life" but it can't be great after 15 years!

Hi thanks for your replies, to IanL it makes no noise when clutch is pressed but in neutral you hear a bit of noise....you have to press the clutch for the noise to disappear completely...

Changing oil might be a good idea how much should they charge maximum for it?

Also anybody knows mechanics in the London area I could trust to repair it in case?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply! It makes a bit of noise in neutral almost inaudible...you have to press the clutch for the noise to go off completely...

Thanks for you reply! How much should they charge for a change of transmission oil maximum?

Hi,
around £40 to drain & refill I guess. Lots of this business around towns. A visit to one of them might be beneficial. A very high risk it won't.
Not too difficult to change yourself with known quality oil, while checking what & how much comes oot.
You will save money in the long run.
Cheers,
Iain.
