206cc not starting

Post by Turner53 »

Hi my wife’s 2005 1.6 cc has been fine up to now, we used it Sunday for a long drive then parked it up on the drive. Now it just turns over but refuses to fire. Ive no idea what it can be . The fuel pumps sounds like it’s priming. Have you any ideas what possibly it can be so when I have a day off I can delve deeper.
Cheers

First thing to check is the beep test. Switch off, leave the key in the ignition and open the driver's door. If you get the warning beep, the car is recognising the key. If no beep, it is not, and it's an immobiliser problem.

Check coil pack connectors - maybe give a spray of contact cleaner (not WD40).

They normally play up when the engine is hot and start again when cold.

Might be worth seeing if a fault code has been saved ... helps pinpoint the issue

Certainly a possibility. They are quite cheap, but it could just be the connector - again, try contact cleaning spray.
