Drivers door weather strip.

Post by MelidenBob »

I am looking at taking off and checking, the weather strip on the driver's door as there are bumps in the rubber, as though there is rust underneath.
Couple of questions that come to mind, prior to doing the job.
How easy to remove the strip?
Is the strip the same as fitted on 206 3 door?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not the same part on the 3 door.

Mine also has bumps both sides. Not sure it is rust, as it's very unyielding.

Its not rust but it is corrosion, aluminium corrosion and it will bend permanently like a saracen sword if you remove it, unless you can remove the whole length upwards and completely flat in one go.

Might be easier to lower the glass completely then disconnect it so it drops into the bottom of the door then you can manipulate the seal upwards from underneath starting in the middle, word of warning they are usually very tight and stiff and very easy to bend.

Thanks for the replies. I think my conclusion is 'leave it alone' and accept the fact that the car is 15 years old.
