Damage report Scotty?

Post by Spitfire6 »

Hi,
I’m @ Renault in France.
Get call from wife.
Mr. Magoo from Amazon has done this to my car. I think he tried to "run".
Wife has this picture and video of driver paraphrasing todays date and time. So, no problem who caused the damage.
I have spent hundreds on new CAT + exhaust last month and all new rotors and suspension (GTI) parts.
You all think this is a write off?
Iain.

As far as an insurance company is concerned, I think it would be a write-off - it's cheaper for them to give you the book value of the car (pretty low), rather than pay for the repairs.

That said, it looks like only one panel is involved, but it is welded (Service Box specifies MIG brazing) into the structure, not bolted. Also, the window and boot strut mountings may be affected. I have heard of owners buying the car back from the insurers for the scrap value, and getting it repaired themselves.

I've replaced that panel. It is weld on but not bad if you know someone who can weld

Hi,
took the car insurance recommended body-shop last week. Guy took pictures all around car and when asked how much, replied about 2K to fit and paint new panel!

Got a call today from body shop and repair approved. Happy days. But can only take it in on 5th June. Still happy days.
Next to get car MOT'd!

Most happy that the car is not scrapped as should pass MOT no problem. Front disks maybe advisory.

So looks like I am staying in the club.

Cheers,
Iain.

I'm honestly not sure which emotion is stronger right now....suprise that your insurance company is paying out that much for the repair or envy at the condition of the Nimrod's in Col's pictures ;) !! Shiney Shiney me likey!

That photo was a few years ago. Bought the car as a write off and replaced offside rear wing, door, front wing and had to repair both front and rear bumpers.

Hi,
Car was due in tomorrow for repair.
Got a call today & asked to bring in next Tuesday as Peugeot don't have the part yet.
At least the part doesn't sound like a big tub of P38.

Cheers,
Iain.
