Hi,
My 206 has been wonderfully reliable for 3 years until today.
Initially it was a vibrating clutch pedal when depressed, then a high pitched whine when releasing the clutch, a km later there was a lower pitched knocking noise.
The whole feel of the car is wrong so not sure if it's the clutch or something else, the gears feel ok.
My main concern is driving it to my service centre a km away as I don't want to cause more damage,
I'm not that mechanically minded so if anyone's got an idea of what the problem may be and if it's safe to drive to the garage, I would greatly appreciate it.
It's a 2004 206 SE, 152000kms, fully serviced every 10,000kms, manual, 1600cc
Thank you in advance
Ian
Vibrating clutch pedal and noise
Re: Vibrating clutch pedal and noise
It is probably the clutch release bearing (aka throwout bearing), sounds like it's falling to bits. The danger of continuing to drive it is that the bits get behind the clutch disk and damage the flywheel. Better to tow the car.
