Hello Everyone,

So im almost done restoring my peugeot the last fault I have is when I turn on the car it says "Passenger Airbag Dissabled" "Airbag Fault"

I checked and to the left of the driver seat the airbag is turned to "On".

Also I have two signals on the dash that I cant find in any of the manuals. They look like their telling me my seatbelt is not plugged in, not sure.

I went to an electrician and he said his diagnostics machine could read every diagnostic part of the car except the airbag system so he said its probably a problem with the airbag module. However i'm reluctant to go replace it straight away if there may be something else i can do.

Any ideas on where to start for the passenger airbag?

Checked the battery at autozone and my electrician both said its fine. We checked the wires underneath the seats, we made a bit of progress found out the the airbag wire underneath the passenger seat was deactived.

We did a BSI reset but that didnt clear the code. I think it must be an issue with the module since the fault reader could not get a read on the airbags module.

My next step will be taking back to my electrician tuesday. Googling I found a recommendation to use a resistor to mask the fault. Were going to check all the wires to the modul to make sure they work and are put on tight, and were going to take the seats apart and check their wires aswell. If we dont find anything there were going to put the resistors in to mask the signal. :box:

Resistors aren't the answer and depending on what's causing the problem, may not have the result you want..
What code reader was used?

The resister will only mimic the airbag so if thats not the fault it still wont clear.

I really don't approve of bodged repairs on a safety critical part such as airbags (same goes for brakes, weld repairs, steering etc)
Are there any specialist independent Peugeot garages near you? I thought Autozone were just a parts store
Cheers Col.

Hi Capn,

We first used an autozone code reader (autozone is a store I just stopped by they give free code readings). Their reader said I had no faults.

Then I went to the best electrician in the city. They have a big code reader looks like a big industrial Ipad. He showed me it could read all parts of the car, the engine everything the only part it was getting an error accessing was the "Airbag module" So he said since it cant even access the module it must be a problem with the module itself.

There is no specialist garages anywhere near me there is a dealer about 600 km away from me.

An alternative to the resistor method if we don't find the issue is buying a new module, I found one online for $40 usd used but its from a 206 not sure it would work for my cc

where are you? sounds like you have a left hand drive car which can be confusing with left and right descriptions. I wouldnt buy one personally that will come through the mail, it could fire the bags on plugging it in or powering it up due to being tossed around in the mail, plus you wont know for sure if its been in an accident already.

It could be a seat belt pre tensioner acting up too or just bad wiring on the passenger airbag switch.

you really need this on a proper peugeot planet 2000 diagnostic machine before you condemn the airbag ecu

its in the centre console by the way, you can check its plugged in and that the earth point next to it is bolted up properly.

This may be due to the flooding, as the airbag module is one of the lowest to the ground.
