The unthinkable

Post by Chushpie »

I'm afraid I've done the unthinkable and put my 206cc up for sale (see trading post). My husband bought an Audi TT a few months ago and as soon as I drove it, I wanted one! I agonised over it for some time as my cc is in superb condition and I know there is absolutely nothing wrong with it but the TT was calling. I bought it on Thursday from Bolton (Thar's neck of the woods) and now have the task of selling mine.

I have enjoyed this forum so much, it's been very helpful and given me so many laughs, so I hope you don't mind if I stick around as my cc ownership experience may be of some use to someone.

Here's my new beast:

Typical, now I'm not insured on the cc, the sun has been shining and the roof doesn't come off on the TT! At least my German Shepherd fits in, although I can't believe how much smaller it is in the back for a bigger car.

Well, that's my news. I'll let you know how the sale goes and I will definitely let the new owner know about the forum.

Well, I've sold my 206cc tonight. A lovely couple from Great Harwood, not far from me, came with their son to have a look. I can't believe that they didn't even ask to drive it or try the roof and they were only here 5 minutes!

They've left a deposit and will probably collect it at weekend so I'm going to write a tips list on owning a CC and show them how everything works. I'll definitely include the forum on the list so, hopefully, you'll be hearing from them in the future. The son seem VERY keen to get his hands on it, so I'm hoping that he will give it the TLC that I have.

I've still been logging on regularly and it's been great to be part of things. I joined the TT forum too and it's not nearly as friendly or helpful.

Bye for now.

Lovely choice for a replacement Chushpie. I miss mine, but practicality won, although I was bitten by the convertible bug and replaced it with a 308cc. I still shed a little tear when I see a 206cc on the road...I still see loads...there's one at a garage just down the road from me. Would still love to have one as a second car but money doesn't grow on trees.

Don't be a stranger...

You can't get rid of me that easily!

My Pug's new owners collected it last night, together with the handy hints list that I'd typed for them. I've told them to come on the forum and given them the address. I think they thought I was a bit strange when I told them to polish the stainless steel tailpipe with chrome polish as they were about to drive off! I must admit, it was a bit sad seeing it being driven away by someone else.

I'm having bags of fun in the TT and had my cambelt and waterpump replaced yesterday, together with 4 tyres. I can't believe I'm doing this after going through it all not long ago with my CC, must've had a bump to the head!

Wow, I bet they take a while to clean! My wheels are very kerbed and there were chunks out of the tyres, I really don't think the previous owner was very good at parking! I'll do something with them eventually but it's quite a way down my list. Next job - rear brake pads, they're VERY worn. Being able to stop is always quite handy I find!!

Had cambelt and waterpump done at a local Audi specialist and got a really good price of £340, compared with £500 at the dealer, because my husband had his done there (for £400) so we are existing customers (genuine parts used). I've put low cost tyres on for now which don't look half as good as the Pirelli's I'd just put on the CC but they're fine for the mileage I do.

I don't find much difference in the amount of petrol I use yet which is surprising but I am finding that I'm driving slower for some reason, just cruising around rather than tearing round like a woman possessed! :hyper:
