MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Draper.
Not really sure what you are after. That video shows the roof sequence and which microswitch is responsible for each part of the operation, why it should be tripped and when. It also shows photos of the switch locations.
Short of coming 'round your house and pointing at them, I don't know another way of showing their locations.
If your auto electrician has internet access, why not point him to that video and the pics HERE

Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
lol basically just trying to figure out how to get to the switches so i can inspect them and give um a good clean etc
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
well went out today in the nice sunshine put roof down and it got stuck in its usual place had to wiggle the boot lid to get it moving again so obviously a dodgy switch
put it up came in watched the vid again and thought enough is enough
got some wd 40, opened the boot and sprayed all the latches, wires and the parcel shelf switch etc
tried to operate roof, and worked perfectlly
very happy, so gonna keep a can of it in the boot, i recommend this idea to people having problems and i was very generous with spraying it all over so if i was you coat those latches/hinges and switches

Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
WD40 is only a temp lubrication/cleaner you need to get some white silicon spray grease otherwise it will dry everything and you will be back to sqaure one.
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
plan on keeping a can of the stuff in the boot at all times and lubing weekly
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
a Can of white silicon grease would be once a year leaving you more time to enjoy the weather
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
know of any brand names to buy? and also ok to spray on wires?
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
havoline muti purpose white spray grease.

Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah its fine for electrics just don't over spray, it't the same sort of grease you find lubricating control stalks etc, i use it alot before winter to lube the door locks, seals on both my cars.available from any motor factor (halfrauds,GSF,euro crap parts)

HI Draper
Just wanted to know if your problem was similar to mine, as you can see in this video.
http://youtu.be/wvBQYFYPekE
I think I maybe have to change the switch that controls the boot lid open.. But I am not sure.
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
yes that was my problem but i was able to pull the switch again and the roof carried on opening mine was getting stuck with the boot lid in the air and the roof in the boot
Re: MY ROOF ONLY OPENS HALFWAY HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally found the solution
Since the comp measure the time it stops the opening while it didn't received the signal from switch that roof has been opening. The switch is located here:
You will need the torx 20 to remove it. Mine was not damaged, just it required few clicks to move again. Everything is fine now and I avoided to pay a lot of money for services, since they wanted to replace all actuators instead one f** micro switch.
Any questions, feel free to write.
