Boot not closing when roof is in the boot!

Post by flyin2wheeler »

So....ive did all the obvious and got the multimeter out and checked the micro switches and every one is coming out grand...all ok.
Well, new owner of my CC and this is what happens...
open latches and get the bong noise
All goes perfect, roof is in the boot and it comes to the last stage that the boot lid has to drop down to close up but....it wont.
I can hear the pump going to complete the procedure then in come the faulty roof beeps and the motor shuts off and the boot lid still up and parcel shelf not ejected either.
Only thing im gonna check now is wiring from switches but im also thinking is the shut off valve on the pump responsible for changing the flow of the fluid to close the boot and push up the parcel shelf?
Pretty sure i will get this cured eventually but be good to hear if anyone else has had the non boot close issue.
TIA

The best way to check the switches and associated wiring is the ECU.

I would buy the EBay clone units. Or borrow.

You don't need PP. Both my Snapon & Launch read it perfectly OK. I rarely use my PP. It does everything PP does including actuations, fault code reading, coding and everything else including live data

How much for the hardware?
PP2000 clones & long time to install on XP is under £100.

You are quite correct that the "electrically operated valve" has to operate to close the boot lid and the parcel shelf. Someone here did dismount the solenoid and tested it by applying 12V. It functioned ok, so he replaced it and the system started working again! Easy to do, and worth a try - it may just be stuck.

Yeh
Maybe a little light tap with a hammer around the valve may free it up.....if it is stuck.
I've checked all switches, relays, cleaned plugs, checked wires and all checks out good so the valve is my final check

So....removed pump solenoid and tested it and it's working.
So...it seems like my solenoid is not getting any power to make it open in order to close the boot and activate the parcel shelf.
Headache!!!!

Look at the video. At 5.42, it mentions a lever which the roof trips to close the roof open contactor.

Is yours doing that? If not, that would explain why the solenoid is not being energised.

Seems to be Ian.
I see someone's been at the boot door loom with lots of pvc tape from front to back an I don't like the look of that.
It's left me wondering what part the boot ram switch plays in the sequence

I'm in northern Ireland spitfire.
Had a look tonight.
All wires have checked ok.
Did notice, when I get to roof down stage,if I push down the microswitch located by ns roof ram with a screwdriver....it will activate the pump solenoid but the system becomes inoperative and the bleeps start.
I do believe this will turn out to be some type of ridiculous issue
