PROBLEM

Post by Rab1961 »

Hi all. I bought my 206 cc with this problem hoping to fix easy enough. I put her through a years mot easily enough. The problem is- when I pull away with roof up and hit 5mph ish I get a constant beep until I come to virtually a stop. When I put the roof down I get a beep every second at standstill. When I pull away this turns into the constant beep until stopped and returns to the beep every second. Also when roof is down my windows do not work at all. They work fine when roof is up. I have checked the sensors in the boot catch and all seems good. Also checked both roof pillar sensors and both look good. Tried the boot reset and no change. All help reall appreciated. Rab

The design produces a warning if the roof is operated over about 5mph, and it sounds as if the roof ECU thinks the roof is not fully up nor fully down. This is probably due to one or more of the microswitches not behaving correctly (could be dirt in the contacts).

See here for more detail, and there is lots more in the stickies in the Roof Forum.

Hiya. Thanks for reply. Also I should say that when using the fob to open the indicators flash about 8-10 times rapidly. On closing just one flash.

I have difficulty associating that with the roof problem, but it could be an unlooked for software "feature".

Our '01 did that.

The rear window heater/demister also does not work. But the fuse is good.

Check the element for breaks - place a voltmeter across any part where a break is suspected - if no current is flowing, the battery volts will be shown.

Also. Sometimes the fob won't lock the car. And then work perfect for the next 10 locks. I got to all the switches today. All 12, I think. All look perfect and moving as should. Sprayed them all with contacts cleaner. No difference.

Did you check electrical continuity when moving each switch?

We had the 5mph bleep after I tried to replace the high brake light. The plug and socket that supply this feeds the boot latch sensor. It's behind the boot lid lining and had come apart.

Or the boot latch sensor/switch is stuck/broke.
