Boot stops moving while opening roof

Post by akooiman »

Hello,

I am new here and hope someone can help me/us.
My wife has a 2002 206cc for a year now and she loves it.
All has been well the whole year, but last week she wanted to open the roof, but it failed.

The net in the boot is in position, locks are open. when operating the switch, all windows open oke.
The boot starts to open, but stops after about 20cm. If I keep pulling/releasing/pulling the switch, the boot opens to almost vertical(end position). after this it all stops. The only way to continue is by manually opening or closing the roof.

PP2000 reports roof in faulty position. all switches are tested and since the boot stops half way, no switch is involved at that point I think......

I did notice that when the boot is vertical and I give it a gentle push, I can close it very slowly....
That is why I suspect a leak in the pump or one of the actuators. Oil is on the correct level, but looks a bit dark. The release valve is closed.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

Andre from the netherlands

It is either excessive mechanical friction or the hydraulics are below optimum performance. Examine the moving parts for signs of binding, perhaps try a little lubrication.

I have heard that some people have had success after replacing the old oil, which they said had become too viscous with age, but if that does not work, you probably need a new or refurbished pump. The procedure for drain and refill is here.

Thank you,

I do not think it friction, manually open and close goes without a problem.
I guess I will be looking for an other pump assembly. I was afraid of that since I can close the lid with the release screw closed.

If you can do that, it does sound like the pump. One source here.

Had same problem, turned ignition off when opening roof (NOW FIXED)
I manually shut the roof, then tried to open it but it gets to the point roof is in boot, parcel shelf did not come up and boot stays up!
Tried removing the S1 shunt (fuse) in fuse box under steering wheel (to reset BSI and hopefully roof ECU)
Made sure all micros worked
Gave up and took to Peugeot dealer 5 hours later (80x5 hours +vat 480) the SO CALLED ROOF SPECIALISTfinds and fixed
Their software tells the it's the "sun roof open" switch not working (5 hours later he finds the switch) they should know where it is, he adjusts (bends the micro switch) and all works

The switch is on the "parcel shelf shut mechanism" by the manual shut the parcel shelf ( the piston expands as the roof folds, the roof pushes a black rubber coated lever under the mechanism, this slides up locking the piston into place, trips the switch (faulty switch on mine) and the piston retracts pulling up the parcel shelf

The engineers report

Search on EBay for "Lexia 3", and look for the words "full chip" or similar. They are all Chinese copies - the real McCoy (or du Pont :) ) cost thousands.
