Post by Piyas »

Hi Guys,

I have a leaking parcel shelf strut on my 206 cc 1.6 petrol 2005, does anyone have step by step instruction and pictures on how to remove the strut?

Thanks.

You need access to the repair instructions in the Peugeot Service Box. You can either get it online, on a pay-per-view basis, or http://www.emanualonline.com/Cars/Peugeot.htm

I recommend the latter. It is easy to install, and bullet-proof. The price includes all the parts, repair and wiring information for ALL Peugeots, not just the particular model you click.

Is that normal or somebody already hacked it , that's why it leaked? Can this be repaired with just a spring lock?

Looks like it's just come apart...... Question is-why? Is there something wrong with the mountings causing it to over extend?
Cheers Col.

I was thinking since it seems there is a sign that the cylinder housing has a cut, possibly it was cut by the previous owner to replace the o-ring. Is the lock ring originally cut, or initially a whole ring and was only cut so that the strut can be removed?

As per picture provided by Capricol below, I was thinking of just sourcing a lock ring the same size, but instead of similar to the second from left, I will buy the same as the one in the farthest right.

Hi All
I had a leaky parcel shelf ram.
I used the website suggested by Capricol for removal instructions and enquired at my local Peugeot dealer
About fixing or replacing.
They couldn't replace and wanted $500 to fix.
This they said would involve machining the ram and replacing the seals I'm not sure how that would work as machining would alter the sizes.
Hydraulic shop told me if I could get apart they would replace seals and after a tip from them this is how it is done.( the first place I went to just scratched there head )
Place a socket over the piston part of the ram it needs to be small enough to fit inside the outer casing.
Push down firmly the inner part of the casing should move down and release the pressure holding the circular
Clip.
With two small screwdrivers carefully remove the clip and pull piston out of casing.
The hydraulic shop couldn't find seals the right size and ended up using a quad seal I have used the auto roof a dozen times and is holding up for now.
I have the same person look for a hydraulic oil equivalent for me and will post if I get a result.
So total cost. Seals $22 oil $53 per 125ml.
Hope this helps

Do anyone knows where i can buy the green oil seal inside Parcel shelf Strut?

Thank you

Peugeot do not supply spares for the hydraulic roof parts. I suggest trying a local hydraulic specialist (Yellow Pages perhaps?).

Another possibility is here.
