Any ideas on this roof fault....

Post by WEE SMURF »

Goes like this....boot blind in place, windows all down, undo the latches, bong is heard, operate the roof switch and the pump runs for a few seconds then stops, nothing else happens from there, no beeps, no display warnings etc, pump oil is up to level, u clips inside the boot lid are orientated in the correct position, just goes dead after the first pump operation sound is heard, anyone had this happen?.

If I remember correctly, the first motion is the "parcel shelf" tipping up. Does that happen?

It is probably one of the switches. It needs to be diagnosed with Peugeot Planet.

Try checking pump oil and that pressure relief valve is nipped up.

Good shout Col, It actually turned out to be the right side hydraulic ram was leaking slightly, enough to prevent the required force to lift the boot lid, but not enough (yet) to register as being low in the pump, replaced the ram (really simple job) and refilled the pump, roof working again, all good and thanks for the reply's.

Hi, it seems that I have the same problem with my hydraulic rams on both sides. Could you, please, tell me how did you manage to take the ram out ? There is not so much space around it. Is it safe to take it out and drive without it till its repaired?

Thanks a lot for your answer.
Matt

Hi Capncol, thanks for your reply, yes, I did search it on the link you sent, but its always about the boot struts. In my case, the leaking struts are those two underneath the rear window. Could you help me with those?

I assume you mean the struts which raise and lower the roof itself.

The relevant illustrations and instructions in the Service Box Procedures, "Removing - refitting : All the struts and hydraulic pipes for a retractable roof" (which I cannot find on this site), state that the entire roof assembly is to be removed from the car, after which the assembly is positioned with the rear window flat on a surface and the roof section vertically upwards. The struts are then removed.
