Speed sensor fault code

Post by Westauspug »

My roof wont open or close on my 2004 1.6. Took it to my local European car specialist who checked the fault codes for the roof ECU and it says "Speed sensor information fault". Removed the code and the roof worked fine for a day then the code reappeared and the roof stopped working. Removed it again and a day or two later it reappears. Took the car to the local Pug dealers and they said the speed sensor information is fine its a faulty ECU, changed the ECU and a later that day the fault code reappears, the code was removed again and two days later it reappeared. The Pug dealers now say they cannot find the fault.

Hmmm
Pretty sure someone else on here had a similar problem and it turned out to be something
to do with the brake ABS system

i should have posted this 5 years ago, but for anyone having the same problem it did turn out to be the ABS unit, replaced it in 2013 and no problem with the roof since.

That's strange the roof ecu takes its speed reading directly from the speed sensor

The speed sensor is part of the ABS unit and can't be replaced separately.

According to the SEDRE, if the vehicle has ABS, the speed information for the speedometer (and presumably for the roof ECU, but that is not shown) is from the ABS unit.

If it does not have ABS, the data comes from the vehicle speed sensor (on the transmission).

If your 206cc gets its speed data from the abs unit you wont have a speed sensor in the gearbox, nice easy to check item. If you have one sticking out of the diff housing then you can be sure that's where the speedo is reading it from.

Now when was the last time you saw a 206cc without abs?

Tons of contradicting information about the 206 range. A lot of it comes directly from the haynes manual.
