Hi Peaches. You haven't really given us much to go on really.
Is it a 206cc or other model?
What engine?
Year?
Mileage?
Manual or auto?
Cheers Col.

Hi sorry its a 206 glx, 1360cc,petrol, w reg year 2000 ,mileage is 104000 and its a manual car. Ive had lots of work done this year new head gasket, cam belt ,cataltic converter and back box of exhaust,o2 sensor, clutch, battery ,new brakes ,new radiator. Just about everything has gone wrong so would like to know what this fault is, as weve spent alot on the car and want to get it back running well. Its always run well but now the engine dies when i slow down or stop at a junction , some days it happens alot then it will run well but it is dying on me quiet a few times every day now im hoping its a problem thats not too costly to fix .

Did this start happening after some of the work was done. Could be timing belt a tooth out. Did the cam belt break or was the head off for some other reason?
I would advise using live data on a good diagnostic machine, and check crank sensor output, temp sensors idle RPM, TPS angle and plausability.
Cheers Col.

1. 1.6
2. Multiplex or not?
3. engine cut out twice when pulling up to lights, only been getting 13 mpg, noticed black soot on the back bumper above the exhaust, engine felt like it was about to cut out all the time when stopped at lights
4. no
5. What did they do?
6. Did it work ?

no fault codes came up or warning lights, changed lambda sensor on manifold, running great now

Hi schedgey.
Have you already tried anything to cure this? What engine is it, 1.6 / 2.0?
Cheers Col.

Does it only do it when the engine is warm? I'd be inclined to think that was the crank shaft sensor ...

But check the connections to the coilpack (take off the engine cover). We had one recently where the wiring insulation had been worn away and was shorting out.

Sounds fuel related to me.
Check all the plastic intake pipework for cracks & splits.
Take the spark plugs out. Is one noticeably more sooty than the others? (injector fault)
Check the MAP sensor & wiring (drivers side of the inlet manifold)
Check fuel pump for leaks (in tank, access under rear seat) and all associated fuel pipework)
Cheers Col.

1. 2.0?
2. Multiplex
3. Happened once on a dual carriageway, slowing down for a roundabout. Cut out, engine started up straight away. Then once when idling outside house when waiting for car to defrost.
4. Went to an independent Peugeot specialist and plugged it in, no errors.
5. They suggested a service, even though its fully serviced....
6. I refused to service it again.

Anyhow, I changed all the spark plugs and dropped in an OEM coilpack, checked the battery etc. My car hates being started in the mornings when its cold it misfires a little and revs idle at 1200 rpm for 2 minutes then all is well again. Might try getting injectors cleaned.
