Wheel arch cover coming away, how to fix?

Post by timanderson »

I don't know the term for this part. Was driving today and heard loud scraping noise from front left. Couldn't work it out at first, then saw that there is a tough rubbery part which fits under the wheel arch above the wheel. This had come loose and was rubbing against the wheel, hence scraping noise! I bodged it back and car was fine for the rest of the day, but the next pothole might loosen it again. Anyone come across this and have a solution?

It's called mudguard.

It is held in place at the top by two removable rivets - black plastic Part No 6997 T2
and at the bottom by a crosshead screw and shakeproof washer Part No 6925 N0

Ah, looks like you can get new mudguards on eBay too. Thanks.

I thought they were just called "inner wings" ..

I had to replace the fronts on our 206 hatchback .. very easy to do but the quality of the new ones was definitely lower .. harder plastic.

One of the rears came away on our CC ... now that was an interesting noise!

Mudguards is the term in Service Box. When I wanted one for my daughter's 206 hatchback, I couldn't get one anywhere, and I ended up repairing hers with hot glue and backing plastic cut from a plastic bottle.
