Help with locating MAF sensor

Post by Ollie76 »

Hi all, have (wife has) a 51 plate 206cc. It scraped through its last MOT due to failing emissions test. Lots of shuddering when driving. Poor acceleration. Looking online, I believe the issue is a faulty MAF sensor and what I want to do is clean it.. watched videos online and seemed simple enough, problem is none of the videos online are of a cc and As such I can’t actually find the sensor. I am as novice as someone can be with any type of mechanics but happy to give it a go. Have bought the cleaning spray. Anyone know of a site that has basic directions (pictures are good) on how to do this. I can see the air filter and a hose going into something else that I can take off (told you I was a novice). Not even sure that is the right location.

Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Ollie

Cleaning it is a very temporary fix. Once the maf starts to fail, replace it.

If you do decide to try cleaning it, make sure the cleaning fluid is the type that evaporates leaving no residues ..

Might be called a MAP sensor on 206

The 1.6 petrol has a combined MAP and IAT sensor, no MAF.
