Anti polution error

Post by steve747 »

Hi
my 1.6 16v 206cc 2002 seems to hesitate between gears, i do have a error code of P0121 which is the thottle sensor , can antone tell me if the thottle sensor is part of the Thottle body.
Could you tell me if i need to replace the whole thottle body? or there could any other things to check for this fault.

THANKS
Steve :big-grin:

I think that is the sensor, accelerator pedal - Part no 1920 X1 on my car, but it may be different on yours. Post the last eight digits of your VIN if you want the number for yours. I believe it attaches to the accelerator pedal.

Mine is stamped into the metal frame of the boot opening. It is also shown on the V5 ("logbook").

Part No 1920 X1 is the correct part for your car. I found one here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Capteur-posi ... SwpqRaw4Of.

The VDO numbers do agree, so it seems to be the same part.

I have not had a problem with mine. I don't say your problem is that sensor, just that the throttle sensor you mentioned probably is the accelerator pedal sensor.

I think you unplug the electrical connector, undo the three bolts and remove the pedal, and then remove the sensor from the pedal.

From the watermark, I assume that is a photo not of your car. It is probably of a early 206 with a cable operated throttle. Yours has an electrically-operated throttle, going by the VIN.

Here is an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-206- ... SwFShauKuf

Yours will be cable operated. The sensor is either near the O/S wing or on the bulkhead. Get someone to press throttle and you will see it moving
Cheers Col.

According to the Service Docs, there is a modification kit to do away with the cable control and fit the electrical pedal. I assumed that had been done. The Docs don't show the position of the sensor.

Hi Guys
I would like to thank everyone for there help on this matter, i have managed to find the location of the FPS sensor , it is on the n/s beside the brake fluid reservoir.
Im guessing that the bracket i have to undo is under the wheel arch . and the sensor is behind the throttle cable connection ..i have attached photos incase this matter comes up again , bare in mind its on a 1.6 16 valve engine 2002..

Thanks Again
