Boot problems

Hi all, Just bought 2005 reg 206cc. Chap i bought off showed me the roof working okay, opened boot up and all was okay. tried to use boot other day, but boot was a dead weight to lift up and would not hold up.
Is it a reset problem after roof goes back into place or is it the struts? funny as the boot was opened easily enough when i bought it. Help please.

Its an awkward job, so make sure you replace both of them at the same time.
