I love this car, and I want to buy one

Post by sitka »

Hi!

So I'm looking for a 206 cc, but I don't know which one worth buying. I'm reading the forums for a while, but I still need some help.

I need a reliable car, and I would like to buy one for around 2000 pounds. This way I will have money for minor repairs too.

Question is, what to look for, what to avoid? I know an accident is really bad for a cabriolet, so thats one thing, there may be leaks, and different electronical failures, but I'm not an expert, I don't know how can I spot these easily. Any help would be nice.

I know i must have a good local garage, where they can help me, but I think you guys, must be the experts about 206cc-s. I think there's no such thing as 206cc specialist in our country... I'm from Hungary by the way, and I see some really good looking secondhand cars from Germany. But I have doubts.

Thanks, for any advice!

Thank you, I've just read it. It's really helpful!

Do you know any other info which could help my search? I am thinking about like "the first production years were more faulty, especially with the roof mechanism", or "the 1.6 diesel and the 2.0 petrol are much reliable than the 1.6 petrol". Actually I saw these in hungarian forums. Are these true, are there any other basic things?

What I saw in the guide, that the seat positioning sometimes not good, I saw this in the car, we saw today. And now I deffinetelly think that car was broken, and repaired. I was suspicious before, but now it is clear.

I plan to see 4-5 more 206cc-s in the next weeks, so any help is really appreciated!

The roof mechanism was largely the same through the production run. There is nothing wrong with the 1.6 petrol. The 1.6HDI suffers turbo issues, and I wouldn't have that engine! I would also avoid an auto.

Thank you for your help! I've bought my new car... and it is a 307 CC. The bigger chasis, more back seat room, and the higher feeling of security pushed us to the bigger car.

We chose the 2.0 petrol engine with 136 HP, and manual transmission. Capncol, your guide was really useful! And we also took it to a garage, and everything was fine with the car. I missed only one thing, the garage didn't had a computer cable for Peugeot...

I don't know how much problem this can be, should I look for another garage for the future, or it is not necesssary? (Can I get the guys the equipment, or it is not so easy/cheap?)

My plan is to have some modifications on the car, here's a list, if you have any ideas, what should I do before I get into it, just let me know.

new gear shift knob
remote control for the roof
remote control for turning on the engine (to get the car heated up)
heated seats
somehow enhance the heating on the foot area
a wind deflector
and I need to repair small scraches on the body

I will make some research, this is my first car, and I don't want to do crappy job. I appreaciate any suggestions.

First of all, if you guide me to a good 307 CC forum that's fine for a start. ;-)
