Vaseline is petrol based and will damage the rubber .. you would be better off with silicon based

The seal is the same part for all 206CC, regardless of age, according to the Service Box.

Could you try silicone sealant, perhaps?

ok thanks both i'll try the silicone sealant, this car is getting on my nerves
