Problem with the roof...again!

Hi all..I am new to this forum so I apologise If I posted in the wrong place. I'm having more issues with my roof. My model is 2002.



From roof closed:

Release catches inside..the car makes the signal..BONG...

Pressing the roof UP/DOWN button..all windows start to go down and the roof starts to detract into the boot.

Then there’s no second signal..BONG.. to signal the procedure is complete and the motor keeps going..

Then there’s the constant beeps to signal a error and the windows won't go up.

I can then however reverse the procedure and lock the roof then windows but obviously there’s a problem.

I have disconnected the battery to try and reset the computer but it didn’t work.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Yes, this is the wrong place - it should be in the Roof section of Problems.

I think the cause is probably the microswitch (Roof Open Contactor) which closes to tell the Roof ECU that the roof is down in the boot. Watch this video from 5.30. My guess is the lever (at 5.46) is not being tripped. I think the lever has a plastic tip, which may have become detached. If so, it can be fixed (at least temporarily) by wrapping some insulating tape around the lever end.
