right battery?

Post by sirdmark »

Hello everyone,
as my predecessor abandoned the project because he bought a camper van and mostly lives in Spain now, his battery seized to work and the electronic went haywire. He just managed to reboot everything but didn't want to spend money on a battery. Hence, the one in the car doesn't fit, as he just took one he had lying around. So I have to order a new one. This is the one I intend to order:

YBX5012 Yuasa Silver High Performance Car Battery 12V 54Ah HSB012

Any objections?
Thanks Luke

That'll do nicely :)

Do follow the correct procedure when changing batteries:

Hi,
I was going to say that battery is too thin. I thought it was 243mm wide?
Mine is 540 CCA EN. I tested it a week ago. I have lost 10 CCA. It must be five years old as I took it off the spitfire.
Off to measure mine now!
I Only buy Banner Pro batteries

Is the 1.6 a smaller battery?
IMG_2882.JPG
243 x 175 x 190 high. A good volume for performance and cost.

Yes, the 1.6 battery is 207 x 175 x 190mm. Mine is secured with a clamp on the side, not a strap across the top.

Thanks for the answers. I couldn't take the measurements as it was raining yesterday evening but I also have a metal strap over the top of the battery, just as on the photo from spitfire. I will try to measure today. The brake discs are on their way from Germany now and my friend will come up from Bristol to help with changing them. That is what I call true "love" ;-). Luke

Window switch repair

Post by sirdmark »

Hello everyone, as I had a faulty window switch in my 206cc I ventured on youtube and found a video :
"Peugeot 206cc windows colse doesn't work, problem resolved!" by a German Guy, hence the spelling. I followed his advice. Be careful, when you take the switch apart. There is a tiny spring for the rear mirrors which you don't want to lose and found the rubber mat between the plastic switches and the contacts was loose and the whole switch was dirty. Cleaned it with the help of a toothbrush and some acetone, fixed the rubber mat back into position and put the switch back in. Presto, everything works like a charm. Luke

Hello Ian,
it seems to be that the case is much bigger than the actual size of the battery but the limiting factor is the metal strap. The above mentioned Battery is the maximum physical size you can fit with the strap. It now looks like in your photo apart from me having a different set of contacts. I have the screwless ones. It all went well and I hope the 4ah more juice will make a difference. Luke

Hello Spitfire6,
the battery: YBX5012 Yuasa Silver High Performance Car Battery 12V 54Ah HSB012
from Tayna. You will find all the data on their website. Fits perfect and of course looks like in your photos as Ian doesn't have any Photos in this post. I also changed the bulbs in the central display which means I am able to see what it shows. What an achievement ;-)

Happy days! I always keep by illumination on low now to prolong the hassle of changing them or the others....
