Cabin heater blower fan problem

Post by Spitfire6 »

Hi,
206cc 2L 2002 MUX with "climate control" digital panel.

Several months ago, occasionally the cabin fan would make noise & small vibration @ high speeds.
Noticed several months ago that the 6/7 selectable speeds were occasionally more like 4 speeds. Full was always full.

Within the last month; sometimes the blower refuses to rotate. Next day it appears fine and a few days later it will again refuse to rotate.
It has never started up or died while the car is driven.

Three days in a row now the blower is not working. I connected the PP2000.
PP2000 shows the voltage stepping up and down when I demand fan speed.

Does this mean I do not have a resistor pack?
Or
Does PP2000 guess/estimate & display what the voltage to the fan must be? ie. not actual?

A fan from any 206cc & any year is a replacement?

I have a few more questions, but that depends if the fan speed is controlled digitally or PWM.

Cheers,
Iain.

You will probably find the plug connecting to the resistor has overheated and melted causing poor connection. Seen it a few times.
Cheers Col.

Hi Col,
sorry for the belated reply.

Reading up on getting the glove box out.
Happy days.
Thanks,
Iain.

Hi,
Glove box removed. Simples.
Power connector removed. Multipin- not yet.
The motor will not rotate.
I do not have a screw holding the motor in place. Circled in yellow #1.
I see a screw (circled in yellow #2 ). Is this holding it?

Even the wife with two hands cannot twist it.

Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers,
Iain.
PS. Power connector looks OK. No voltage across power connector, but full voltage from red to ground. I might just connect the black wire to a ground!

The motor is removed CW.
There are no resistors to control speed.

How do you open motor after removing T15 screw?
Cheers,
Iain.
