"battery charge fault"

Post by rupert »

Hi all
I have a 206cc 05 reg petrol. Have an intermittent "battery charge fault" warning comes on and the bettery light, they only stay on for a couple of minutes and then go off, this has only happened when the heater fan has been switched to position 2 or 3 and doesn't happen every time. The car starts fine, the battery has never gone flat, no other fault lights, I have just changed the alternator, the charge was 14.5v, but the warning has come back twice. Every thing on the car appears to working fine, doesn't seem to matter weather the head lights, heated rear window etc are on or not. Any ideas?
Thanks Rupert

Try unplugging the 32pin black connector on the engine ECU (above the right front wheel) and cleaning contacts with contact cleaning spray.

Didn't actually get a chance to check the connector, it's been 3 weeks now and the fault hasn't reoccurred, so fingers crossed.
