206 cc display and battery icon problem

Postby rubb3rbull3ts » Fri Feb 16, 2018 12:21 am

hi, i bought the car around 3 weeks ago i'm still in the learning phase about the car.

3 times this evening every time i've parked up and removed the key from the barrel, the display and the battery icon flash and only stops when i insert the key again.

I presume it's an electrical fault? What should i do! Any thoughts will be much appreciated i will get back tomorrow to answer any questions after work friday evening, thank you.

solved.

the aeriel had seen better days it was all scuffed and damaged, mainly because when the roof was being put back up the occupants would forget to put the aeriel out of harms way so it would get stuck and damaged.

new aeriel installed with sealant etc

The roof should not hit the aerial. It must have been bent if you have to put it out of harm's way. Was it actually jammed inside and preventing the roof closing fully?

The reason I ask is because the symptoms you saw are not usually associated with a roof fault.

thanks for the reply Ian, there was water on the inside of the interior light which must have come through the base of the aeriel, the aeriel was changed and the base re-sealed and so far there hasn't been an issue 'finger crossed'

That makes sense - an indication of a short to earth - one to remember.
