Hi All.
My wife just picked up a 2nd hand Peugeot 206cc. 1.6lt Manual Black.
I installed a Pioneer DEH8350SD. Just to pass on my thanks to regular posters here as I found out all i needed from here.
Getting the standard head unit out was fairly simple. I just cut up a wire coat hanger to release the unit using the 4 holes.
I used a standard ISO plug purchased here in Australia - and got the 'switched' power and 'lights' from the cigarette lighter plug in the centre console. It was a bit of a bugger getting the cigarette lighter out. I should have taken some pics, but you basically have to take off the gear shift boot, then unplug the connector first. It would help if you had small hands. Then you need to release the metal inner from the orange plastic outer - which is a fiddly job. Next you can just pull the whole thing out. The other thing I had to do was get the perm on 12v from the 'switched' wire on the ISO plug. The speakers wires all seemed to match up perfectly.
I'm thinking about installing an under seat compact active sub for a little more bass. Has anyone tried one of these? It would mean leaving the boot free for other things.
Cheers, Paul.
Another New Stero Install
Re: Another New Stero Install
Hi Paul, and welcome.
Can't help with the active sub, but one thing you need to be aware of is the you tend to get vibrations from the body work on these cars if you "crank it up"!
You may have to install sound deadening in some of the panels.
