1.6hdi turbo oil feed pipe blockage

Post by Old Alec »

Hi, has anybody any idea why the oil feed pipe to the turbo bearings gets clogged? if so, how can we stop it happening again? It's a '05 with 66k on the clock. Old Alec

There if a gauze filter on the bottom end. They get clogged. Get rid of it. Slightly dirty oil is better than no oil. Carry out full engine flush as per PSA recommendations

It's a common issue. With these it's essential to keep up with oil and fiter changes to avoid this. I would use a flush every other oil change, and use the correct oil.
Speak to Chris at Universal turbos in Fordingbridge if need be. You must also replace the oil feed pipe if new turbo fitted AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. Many of the replacements fail very quickly due to shortcuts and it wont be covered by warranty
Cheers Col.

Thanks again Col, I'm down with Ozzie? flu, feeling sorry for myself!- grounded! Grateful for all good advice. I'm an old motor engineer of 83 trying to keep up with modern technology, down with costs, and thinking along lines of replacing the cartridge and fitting an inline microfilter, after it's all been thoroughly cleaned, of course.Cheers, Alec
