sticky windows

Post by ted61 »

Hi, I am new to this community, just bought a 2002 206cc last week and am now trying to get it sorted. First thing I want to see to before the onset of winter are the passenger side windows (left hand drive).the motors work, the quarterlight needs to be flicked and then goes up(takes several tries) the door window seems to be binding, but with patience, and a quick prayer it will grudgingly go up. I am not a mechanic but grew up with grease under my fingernails(my dad had a 1927 Bentley, a '33 Morgan and a '28 Sunbeam bike). Is this a job for professionals or can it be winged by an amateur? thanks,Ted

Lubricating the rubber channels with silicone lubricant usually fixes this.

Thanks Ian,turned out the quarter light mechanism was shot, and the front window had a frayed cable and a brokenplastic wheel in one corner. All fixed and working nicely had it done professionally.and probably just as well....
