206 1.4 1999 poor performance

Post by Spaydy »

Hi i need some help trying to figure out whats wrong with my 206 1.4i kfx 1999.
Ive replaced alot of different parts and now the car feels alittle better but still loss of power and poor idle.
Sometimes it feels like its more power. Before i could drive 180km/h with good performance but bad idle.
Now i can only get like 130-150km/h

Parts replaced:

Coilpack BOLK BOL-E021034 the original is Sagem
Sparkplugs Champion RC8YCL
Mapsensor
Enginetemp sensor
Air sensor in throttlebody
Cranksensor
Knocksensor
Camaxlepos sensor
O2 sensor
Fuelfilter
New exhaust including catalysator cause it was rusty with holes
Checked and cleaned all ground
Replaced fuses and cleaned fusebox with electriccleaner in engine

Compressiontest done hot engine:

1: 205psi
2: 210psi
3:210psi
4:205psi

Im thinking it could be fuel injectors or fuelpump? Ohms on all 4 injectors is 12,3

”UPDATE I Replaced the headgasket and timingbelt too”

Thanks for helping me out :)

I'm no expert, but I've seen suggestions that issues like this need to be diagnosed with live data, using Peugeot Planet 2000. Probably needs someone who is experienced in interpreting the data.

When was the last time the cambelt was replaced? If that is stretching, the timing will be out ..

But I agree with IanL .. you need to get it on a diagnostic to see if there is a problem that hasn't caused the Engine Management Light to come on .. a generic code reader is NOT likely to work as the car is pre-2001.

Belt was done 2010 18000km now its 26000km. So its probably time to change it.

It should be changed on mileage OR age .. it's just under mileage but probably ready on age. Get that done first to see if it improves. Also the worst thing you can do is to simply change parts .. you'll never know what fixed it or simply made it worse .. don't assume all "new" parts are good .. change one thing at a time if you have to, but if it doesn't make any difference, put the old part back!

As you are in Sweden investing in PP2000 and the Lexia-3 cabling might be an option.

Well i got this car for free and it was alot worse when i got it. It died at idle as soon as you got to stop lights etc. And when ive changed all those parts it goes much smoother but its really weak. And sometimes it get more power.
Im thinking of ordering pp2000 and see if it can help me.

Hi,
first thing I would do is do a cylinder compression check.
Second would be buying a pp2000 Hardware/Software package or borrow one.
You will need to consider the live fueling & timing results.
No point guessing now and pouring more money into it guessing?
Cheers,
Iain.

Hi Col,
How much is a pro gauge? My <£80 ones do not read any live events on a Peugeot.
I would love to not have to carry notebook & charger in the car.

Cheers,
Iain.
