1.6 16v timing tools
1.6 16v timing tools
Hello, my engine has developed the dreaded tappet noise. They realy don't like life above 4000rpm. Im thinking about having a go at it myself, because im cheap,, more precisely skint and i don't want to pay £50 for tools i will proberbly only use once. I know you can use two 8mm drill bits for the cams, any ideas what i can substitute for a flywheel locking tool?
Re: 1.6 16v timing tools
It will stay on TDC, just mark it with tippex to instantly see if you've moved it
Cheers Col.

Re: 1.6 16v timing tools
Thanks for that. Im relatively inexperianced at engine work so i was thinking its best to go belt and braces but i supose its all part of the learning experiance to put it back together and find your a tooth out. The cambelt was done last year so hopefully they left some marks.
