Post by Opentop »

Ok so bought the car second hand. 13 years old. Only one key supplied an no code card. This was a cheap car. How do I get codes keys etc? Just in case.

Peugeot dealer, or a specialist key cutter for just a key

You can buy a new blank key off ebay, transponder chip too, not sure if you can make the car learn remotes from a different car though.

You can get the key code from the dealer it costs you £20 and costs them nothing  but you will need the log book in your name.

Get the blank cut at any key cutters.

Then anyone with peugeot planet can reprogam the new transponder to your car so it will start.

If you want a key with no buttons, it is straightforward. Blanks with transponder chip are available on EBay and can be cut by specialists, some of whom have the electronic tool to program the key to the car. They will need the key code for the programming.

If you want a key with buttons for remote locking (which also sets the alarm) there are four different part numbers, only one of which will work, depending on the car year and (believe it or not) whether the car has front foglights. The correct part number can be determined from the VIN. Don't be tempted to buy a used key of this type, thinking you can just change the blade - once the transponder has been programmed to a car, it cannot be re-programmed to another car.
